FIFA ranking: Vietnam women’s national team maintains position in top 6 Asia

Hanoi, 12 June, 2025 – Vietnam women’s national team has maintained its position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, released in June 2025, staying at 37th globally and 6th in Asia. This comes as coach Mai Duc Chung’s side did not play any officially recognized international matches that could impact their ranking points.

Within Southeast Asia, Vietnam continues to lead the region, ahead of the Philippines (41st) and Thailand (46th). Despite playing friendly matches against Werder Bremen (Germany) and Iga Kunoichi Mie (Japan), those games were considered practice matches and not part of the FIFA ranking system.

The current top 10 women’s national teams in Asia.

In the Asian Football Confederation, Japan remains the top-ranked women’s team at 7th in the world, despite dropping two spots. They are followed by North Korea (9th), Australia (15th), China (17th), and South Korea (21st).

Globally, the United States continues to lead the FIFA rankings, with Spain, Germany, and Brazil occupying the next three positions. England has moved up one spot to 5th, overtaking France.

Vietnam will have the opportunity to improve its FIFA ranking during the upcoming 2025 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. Placed in a favorable group, Vietnam is expected to secure three wins against lower-ranked opponents: Maldives (163rd), UAE (117th), and Guam (97th). These matches, being part of the official AFC competition, will be counted towards the FIFA rankings and could boost Vietnam’s position if they perform as expected.
