Hanoi, 24 June, 2025 – The Cong Viettel have officially secured the signature of Brazilian striker Lucao do Break as they prepare for the 2025/26 V.League campaign, marking a significant move in the domestic transfer market.
Lucao, born in 1991, arrives from Hai Phong FC after an outstanding individual season where he netted 14 goals in the 2024/25 campaign, accounting for nearly half of the team’s total of 29. With this tally, he became one of the league’s top scorers, sharing the Golden Boot with Alan (Hanoi Police FC) and Nguyen Tien Linh (Binh Duong).
Standing at 1.84m, Lucao is known for his physical strength, aerial prowess, and clinical finishing inside the box. Over nearly five years in Vietnam, he has built a solid reputation playing for clubs like Hanoi FC, SHB Da Nang, and Hai Phong.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Lucao shared his enthusiasm: “It’s a great honor to join a club with the tradition and fighting spirit of The Cong Viettel. This team has passionate supporters and a clear ambition to win titles. I am here to give my best, score goals, and contribute to team success.”
Head coach Velizar Popov, who recently joined the club after a successful spell with Thanh Hoa, welcomed the addition. “Lucao is exactly the type of striker we were looking for – experienced, aggressive in pressing, and efficient in front of goal,” Popov explained. “He not only scores, but also links up play well and understands the tactical demands of modern football. His arrival will elevate our attacking options significantly.”
The move underscores The Cong Viettel’s ambition to reclaim domestic glory. After a mixed campaign last season, the military-backed club is undergoing a strategic rebuild under Popov, targeting both domestic titles and a strong showing in continental competitions.
Lucao’s experience in V.League 1 is expected to help the club adapt quickly in the attacking phase, especially as they transition to a more dynamic and disciplined style of play. The signing also reflects Viettel’s intent to compete at the highest level, not just by acquiring talent, but by reinforcing their identity as a resilient and title-contending team.
