Ho Chi Minh, 28 June, 2025 – Thai Son Nam officially secured the 2025 HDBank National Futsal Championship title after a thrilling 2-2 draw with Sahako on the evening of June 28 in Ho Chi Minh City. This marks the club’s 14th championship win in the 18 editions of the tournament and their third consecutive title.
Going into the final match, Thai Son Nam faced pressure after Thai Son Bac temporarily claimed the top spot earlier in the day. However, with the advantage of holding their fate in their own hands, Thai Son Nam needed only a draw against Sahako to defend their title successfully.
The decisive clash lived up to its billing, featuring end-to-end action from the opening whistle. With three minutes left in the first half, Dinh Cong Vien – a former Sahako player – opened the scoring for Thai Son Nam with a composed follow-up finish. Out of respect for his former club, Vien opted not to celebrate the goal.

Early in the second half, it was again Cong Vien who doubled the lead, heading home from close range to make it 2-0 for Thai Son Nam. At that point, Sahako risked losing their third-place finish and responded with full attacking intent. Their efforts paid off as their Brazilian import, Marquinhos, dazzled with a solo run before unleashing a rocket into the top corner to reduce the deficit.
Sahako then switched to power-play tactics and continued applying pressure. Their persistence was rewarded with a well-orchestrated equalizer to level the score at 2-2. Despite the late drama, the draw was enough to seal the championship for Thai Son Nam, who celebrated another successful campaign.
In addition to the championship trophy and the 500 million VND prize, Thai Son Nam players also claimed major individual honors. Thinh Phat secured the Top Scorer award, while Chau Doan Phat was named Player of the Tournament.
Reflecting on the achievement, Chau Doan Phat said, “I’m very happy and proud to receive this individual award. The league has become extremely competitive. We only managed to secure the title in the final round. The quality of foreign players has improved a lot, and I believe the league will keep growing in the future.”
Head coach Nguyen Tuan Anh echoed this sentiment, recognizing the increased difficulty of this year’s campaign. “This season was far more challenging. Many clubs made significant investments, brought in foreign players and coaches, and Thai Son Bac especially emerged as a very strong rival with several national team players,” he noted. “We also faced setbacks with key players injured, but our team’s experience and resilience made the difference.”
Coach Tuan Anh also praised the contribution of the younger generation. “This title feels even more meaningful because many young players stepped up and played an essential role in our success. It’s a positive sign for the long-term sustainability of Thai Son Nam, both in terms of squad depth and professional development,” he concluded.
Thai Son Nam’s dominance continues, further solidifying their legacy as Vietnam’s most successful futsal club.
