Ninh Binh, 13 July, 2025 – Nam Dinh clinched their first-ever title at the National U13 Football Championship after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over reigning champions Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) in the final held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 13, 2025.
The 2025 edition of the U13 National Championship came to a thrilling conclusion as Nam Dinh and SLNA faced off in the title match. SLNA entered the final as the defending champions and favorites to retain the crown, boasting a strong record and considerable experience at this level. In contrast, this was the first time Nam Dinh’s U13 team had ever reached the final in the tournament’s 29-year history.
Despite the underdog status, Nam Dinh U13 displayed remarkable composure, resilience, and tactical discipline throughout the tournament. Their strong defensive performance continued into the final, effectively neutralizing SLNA’s attacking threats.
After 60 minutes of regulation time ended goalless, the title was decided by a penalty shootout. Nam Dinh emerged as the more composed side in the high-pressure moments, winning the shootout 3-2 to secure the championship.
Nam Dinh U13 finished the tournament unbeaten with an impressive record of five wins and one draw. The historic title marks a significant milestone for youth football in Nam Dinh and reflects the progress made by the province’s football development programs.
