Hanoi, 22 July, 2025 – Quang Nam FC has officially addressed growing concerns over the club’s future following widespread reports suggesting it may not participate in the upcoming 2025/2026 V.League season due to a potential merger with Da Nang FC. The developments have raised the possibility that the top tier of Vietnamese football could be reduced to only 13 teams next season.
In a statement released on the club’s official website, Quang Nam FC outlined two main strategic options as they evaluate the next steps. The first option is to attract local businesses with a shared vision to form a consortium of sponsors that can ensure the long-term sustainability and development of professional football in the province.
The club stated: “We call upon businesses with local roots to establish a football sponsors’ club that has both the financial capability and the passion to work together for the sustainable growth of elite football and to continue supporting Quang Nam FC and the Quang Nam Youth Football Training Center.”
The club emphasized that maintaining a professional football environment in the Tam Ky area and neighboring districts south of Da Nang is vital: “This contributes to enriching the spiritual life of the people and driving the development of the local sports-tourism economy.”
Should this first option prove unsuccessful, Quang Nam FC has proposed a second scenario: restructuring the professional football organization under the new Da Nang city project. This would include merging with SHB Da Nang to form a representative football team that embodies the shared heritage of the Quang Nam–Da Nang region.
The proposal also includes a complete personnel transfer: “The company suggests transferring all employees, workers, athletes, youth players, and staff from Quang Nam Football Development JSC, Quang Nam FC, and the Quang Nam Youth Football Training Center to SHB Da Nang Sports JSC for continued management.”
As of now, no final decision has been made, and the club’s future remains uncertain, despite the new season fast approaching. Both the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) have yet to issue official statements regarding the club’s status.
Should Quang Nam FC withdraw from the 2025/2026 season, the league format would face significant disruption, especially after match schedules for the new season were already drawn up last week.
