Hanoi, 23 July, 2025 – Hanoi Police FC have confirmed the signing of Vietnamese-Irish midfielder Brandon Ly ahead of the 2025/2026 V.League 1 season, marking a notable addition to their growing squad.
The club announced the signing on their official page, stating: “From European pitches to the heart of Hanoi, the journey begins. His name is Brandon Ly, and he is now a part of Hanoi Police FC.”
Born in 2005, Brandon Ly stands at 1.75 meters and is capable of playing both as a defensive midfielder and a right-back. He possesses a diverse heritage, with a Chinese-Vietnamese father and an Irish mother. Although he has yet to obtain Vietnamese citizenship, Ly would be eligible to represent the U23 Vietnam national team once he secures his nationality.

Before his move to Vietnam, Brandon Ly was part of the Burnley U21 squad competing in England. During the 2024/2025 season, the 20-year-old made 32 appearances in the Professional Development League — the second-tier competition for U21 teams in England.
The signing of Brandon Ly reflects Hanoi Police FC’s ambition to strengthen their squad with overseas Vietnamese talent ahead of a competitive season. The club is expected to compete across several fronts, including the V.League 1, National Cup, National Super Cup, AFC Champions League Two, and the ASEAN Club Championship.
With his experience in the English youth system and positional versatility, Brandon Ly is expected to provide valuable depth and energy to Hanoi Police FC’s midfield and defensive line. Fans will be closely watching his progress, especially if he completes the process to represent Vietnam at the international level.
