Jakarta, Indonesia – July 25, 2025 – U23 Vietnam have booked their place in the final of the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship following a hard-earned 2-1 win over U23 Philippines in the semifinal clash at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Nguyen Dinh Bac and Nguyen Xuan Bac were the heroes of the day, each scoring a goal to guide coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad past a resilient and disciplined Philippine side. The match saw U23 Vietnam dominate possession but face strong resistance from their opponents, who threatened on the counter.
Shortly after the final whistle, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Tran Quoc Tuan, personally called the team to extend his congratulations on behalf of the Executive Committee. As a gesture of encouragement, the VFF awarded the team a bonus of VND 500 million for the victory.
This reward adds to the previous VND 500 million that U23 Vietnam received for finishing the group stage with a perfect record. In total, the team has now earned VND 1 billion in bonuses after three consecutive wins at the tournament.
President Tran Quoc Tuan also reminded the players and coaching staff to maintain their health and focus in preparation for the final. “You have made the nation proud. The final awaits, and we believe in your continued success,” he emphasized in his message to the team.
The final of the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship is scheduled for 8 PM on July 29, 2025, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. U23 Vietnam will have four days to rest and prepare for the decisive encounter, where they will face either U23 Thailand or U23 Indonesia, who are set to meet in the second semifinal.
This marks U23 Vietnam’s third consecutive appearance in the ASEAN U23 Championship final. The team is now just one step away from achieving a historic hat-trick of regional titles, having won the previous editions in 2022 and 2023.
With strong momentum, solid teamwork, and national support behind them, U23 Vietnam will look to write a new chapter in Southeast Asian football history.
