Hanoi, 5 August, 2025 – The 2024/2025 Vietnam National Super Cup promises an intense showdown as Hanoi Police FC takes on defending V.League 1 champions Nam Dinh at Thien Truong Stadium. Both head coaches, Alexandre Polking and Vu Hong Viet, expressed strong determination to claim the first trophy of the new season during the pre-match press conference.
Nam Dinh enters the match with solid preparation, having recently completed a training camp in South Korea. The team has also bolstered its squad with several high-quality foreign signings, adding to its title ambitions.
“We invested heavily in both fitness and tactical work ahead of this season,” said coach Vu Hong Viet. “The training camp in South Korea was crucial for improving our players’ physical condition and helping them adapt to international match intensity. Playing at home, our desire to win is even greater.”
On the other side, Polking—the former head coach of Thailand’s national team—expressed confidence in Hanoi Police FC’s chances despite facing a formidable opponent.
“This will be a great match between two of the strongest squads in Vietnam right now,” Polking stated. “We respect Nam Dinh, but we are ready to fight and win the Super Cup.”
The match also marks the second consecutive year Thien Truong has been selected as the host venue. According to Phung Cong Suong, Co-Chairman of the organizing committee, the venue was chosen for its passionate football atmosphere and the strong support from local authorities following the recent administrative merger involving Ninh Binh province.
“We have prepared the best possible conditions and are ready to welcome fans to a fantastic football event,” Suong added.
Regarding officiating, Nguyen Minh Ngoc, CEO of VPF and Co-Chairman of the organizing committee, confirmed that top referees with stable performances have been appointed for this high-stakes clash. The match will also feature VAR technology, with FIFA representatives present to assess the implementation of VAR in Vietnam.
“This is both an honor and an opportunity for us to further improve the quality of match officiating to meet international standards,” Ngoc emphasized.
The Super Cup serves as the curtain-raiser for the 2025/2026 season, with both teams eager to set the tone early. For Nam Dinh, playing at home is both a boost and a challenge, while Hanoi Police FC is determined to spoil the party and claim the prestigious trophy. The battle kicks off at Thien Truong Stadium, where thousands of passionate fans are expected to create an electrifying atmosphere.
