Vietnam women’s national team determined to make history at the 2025 MSIG Serenity Cup

Hai Phong, 5 August, 2025 – On the eve of the 2025 ASEAN Women’s Championship, head coach Mai Duc Chung emphasized that the Vietnam women’s national team enters the tournament with the highest determination, respecting every opponent including Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, and Indonesia.

Competing on home soil in Hai Phong, coach Chung and his squad have set their sights firmly on lifting the trophy while calling on passionate home support to fuel their quest for regional supremacy.

“I want to thank the ASEAN Football Federation and the Vietnam Football Federation for organizing this championship. This is an important tournament for all Southeast Asian teams to train and improve ahead of the SEA Games,” Chung stated.

The veteran coach highlighted the increasing competitiveness of the region:

“We value every opponent, from Group A to Group B. Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines have all made progress. I have watched their friendly matches, and every team has prepared well. Cambodia’s recent games against Guam and Hong Kong (China) showed clear improvement.”

Team captain Huynh Nhu, Vietnam’s all-time top scorer, echoed her coach’s sentiments with confidence:

“Our goal, both individually and as a team, is to give our best for the fans. We will fight hard in every match to win the championship. Playing at home is both an advantage and a pressure, but with the support of fans in Hai Phong and across the country, we believe we can make history.”

Vietnam will open their campaign in Group A alongside Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Group B features Philippines, Myanmar, Timor Leste, and U23 Australia. The semi-finals and final will also take place in Hai Phong, giving the home team a strong boost as they aim to reclaim regional dominance.
