Hanoi, 10 August, 2025 – On the evening of August 10, the Vietnam U20 women’s national team capped off their qualifying campaign for the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup with a commanding 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan. Needing only a draw to seal first place in Group B and a ticket to the finals, coach Okiyama Masahiko’s side delivered a confident performance in front of their home fans.

Vietnam made a dream start, taking the lead just three minutes into the match. From a simple yet effective attacking sequence, Hoang Van calmly controlled the ball before firing a precise shot into the far corner, leaving the Kyrgyzstan goalkeeper with no chance. The early goal boosted Vietnam’s confidence and allowed them to dictate the tempo of the game.

While not launching waves of relentless attacks, Vietnam maintained steady pressure and extended their lead in the 28th minute. From the right flank, Khanh Vy sent in a dangerous cross that caused confusion for the visiting goalkeeper, who misjudged the ball and watched it roll into the net. The two-goal advantage gave the hosts firm control as they headed into the break.

In the second half, Vietnam did not push their lines too high but still kept the match firmly under control. Their composure paid off again in the 74th minute when a well-taken corner from the right found Khanh Vy, who had positioned herself perfectly to head the ball past the keeper for her second goal of the night, making it 3-0.

The final minutes saw Vietnam manage the game with composure, conserving energy while ensuring there were no late threats from Kyrgyzstan. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle, sealing a deserved victory for the home side.

With this result, Vietnam finished top of Group B in the qualifiers and officially booked their place at the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup finals. The achievement is a testament to the team’s consistent performances throughout the qualifying campaign, in which they showcased both attacking flair and defensive stability.

Coach Okiyama Masahiko praised his players’ focus and execution, noting that the team had not only met their target but also gained valuable experience ahead of the continental finals. With the home crowd playing a vital role in their success, the U20 women’s team will now set their sights on preparing for the finals, aiming to make a strong impact on the Asian stage.

This victory over Kyrgyzstan wrapped up a perfect group stage for Vietnam, marking another positive step for women’s football in the country as they continue to rise in regional and continental competitions.
