Teams will compete in a double round-robin format, playing both home and away matches, with a total of 26 rounds and 156 matches scheduled. The top two teams at the end of the season will earn promotion to the 2026/27 V-League 1, while the bottom two will be relegated to the National Second Division, in accordance with the resolution from the 8th meeting of the Vietnam Football Federation’s Executive Committee (Term IX, 2022–2026).

One of the key new regulations for the 2025/26 V-League 2 is that each club will be allowed to register a maximum of one foreign player, one Vietnamese-origin foreign player, and two overseas Vietnamese players. This change is expected to enhance both competitiveness and technical quality across the league.

The upcoming season also sees several notable club name changes. Ba Ria Vung Tau has been renamed Ho Chi Minh City FC, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc becomes Truong Tuoi Dong Nai, and Quy Nhon Binh Dinh has rebranded as Quy Nhon United. Additionally, Hoa Binh FC is set to change its name to Hung Yen FC and relocate to a new home stadium, according to VPF’s announcement.

With multiple rebranded teams, fresh player regulations, and high stakes for promotion and relegation, the 2025/26 V-League 2 promises to deliver an intense and competitive season, offering fans nationwide plenty of drama from the opening whistle to the final matchday.
