Hanoi, 28 August, 2025 – Hanoi FC issued an apology to their supporters after suffering a shocking 2-4 defeat to city rivals Hanoi Police FC in the V-League 2025/2026. The loss not only marked the first time in history that Hanoi FC conceded four goals in a derby against Hanoi Police FC, but also left them still searching for their first victory this season.
Heavy rain before kickoff at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of August 28 left the pitch waterlogged, making ball control difficult. However, it was Hanoi Police FC who adapted better, inspired by the brilliant Brazilian duo Alan Sebastiao and Leonardo Artur. Meanwhile, Hanoi FC captain Nguyen Van Quyet remained on the bench and could only watch as his teammates struggled under pressure.
During the opening half hour, Hanoi FC’s defense looked shaky against the visitors’ quick one-touch attacks. In the 31st minute, a long pass from Nguyen Quang Hai forced defender Tran Dinh Trong into an awkward clearance. The ball fell perfectly for Artur, who controlled at the right edge of the box and curled a superb left-footed strike into the far corner to make it 1-0 for Hanoi Police FC.

In the second half, Hanoi FC were fortunate when another shot from Artur deflected off Bui Tien Dung and struck the post. But central defender Do Duy Manh endured a nightmare evening.
In the 66th minute, his failed interception allowed Alan to break free down the left and slot a precise shot into the far corner for 2-0. Just six minutes later, Alan doubled his tally with a powerful strike from outside the box that deflected off a defender and spun past goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan for 3-0.
By the 76th minute, the Brazilian striker had completed a sensational hat-trick. After combining smartly with Artur, Cao Quang Vinh Pendant pulled the ball back across goal for Alan, who calmly finished to make it 4-0.
Only then did Hanoi Police FC ease off, allowing Hanoi FC to avoid an even heavier defeat. In the 84th minute, Daniel Passira showed great individual skill, dribbling past three defenders before finishing into the bottom corner for 1-4. Moments later, substitute Vu Dinh Hai volleyed home after a scrappy sequence in stoppage time to settle the final score at 2-4.
Despite the late goals, the damage was already done. The result handed Hanoi Police FC their first derby win by such a margin, while Hanoi FC’s winless run extended, raising concerns about their title ambitions. The capital club admitted their shortcomings in a public apology and pledged to bounce back stronger in the next round of fixtures.
