Hanoi. 2 September, 2025 – The A80 parade and march, held on the morning of August 29 at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), carried a profound significance as it featured not only military forces and public contingents but also some of the most iconic representatives of Vietnamese sports. Their presence highlighted the unity of culture, sports, and patriotism in celebrating this historic milestone.
Among the most notable figures in the Culture and Sports Bloc were Olympic shooting champion Hoang Xuan Vinh, gymnastics coach Truong Minh Sang, rhythmic gymnastics coach Nguyen Thu Ha, members of the Vietnam women’s sepak takraw team, and football star Do Duy Manh. Each participant expressed immense pride and gratitude for being part of such a monumental national event.
Do Duy Manh, defender of the Vietnam national football team, described the occasion as the greatest honor of his career: “It is an incomparable pride for me to march as one of the representatives of Vietnamese sports. From a young age, I was taught to love my country and follow Uncle Ho’s teachings. Growing up, I always lived with gratitude and responsibility. For the younger generation, responsibility means striving to improve ourselves and contributing to building a strong Vietnam that can stand shoulder to shoulder with other world powers.”
The Vietnam national sepak takraw team was also well represented, with coach Hoang Thai Xuan and athletes Tran Thi Hong Nhung, Nguyen Thi My, and Nguyen Thi Ha My marching in unison. Coach Hoang Thai Xuan emphasized the significance of their participation: “It is not only an honor but also a responsibility to represent Vietnamese sports in such a historic event. Unlike competitions that focus on individual performance and fitness, this parade requires discipline and perfect synchronization. We have trained with high awareness of our duty to ensure the bloc performs seamlessly.”
Former gymnastics star Pham Phuoc Hung also expressed his emotions, describing the A80 parade as an unforgettable moment: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, both overwhelming in its grandeur and deeply inspiring in its patriotic spirit. It is a sacred memory that will stay with me forever, reminding me of the responsibility our generation bears in protecting the nation and fostering peace. Through my own abilities, I want to spread the spirit of ‘Strength to build and protect the nation – Beauty to shine and contribute’ to the community.”
Meanwhile, karate fighter Nguyen Thi Ngoan carried the torch in one of the most symbolic rituals of the A80 mission. She shared: “The torch relay is the most sacred ceremony, requiring each individual to move precisely and in unison. We trained rigorously to ensure perfect coordination. I feel deeply honored to contribute, even in a small way, to this great national celebration.”
The presence of these sporting icons not only honored the country’s athletic achievements but also underscored the role of sports in fostering patriotism, discipline, and national pride in Vietnam’s journey toward the future.
