Passira and Fernando inspire Hanoi FC comeback win

Hanoi, 26 September, 2025 – Hanoi FC finally ended their winless run in V.League 1 2025/26 with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory against Thanh Hoa at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of September 26. Goals from Daniel Passira and Luiz Fernando in the second half sealed three crucial points for the capital side after a shaky start.

The match began in shocking fashion for the home supporters. Just two minutes into the game, Thanh Hoa’s star striker Rimario delivered a powerful low strike from outside the penalty area, beating goalkeeper Nguyen Van Hoang at the near post to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

With the early advantage, Thanh Hoa immediately switched to a counter-attacking strategy. Rimario remained the focal point in their offense, constantly threatening with his pace, strength, and sharp movement. His presence caused persistent problems for Hanoi’s defense, which looked unsettled and vulnerable throughout the first half.

Midfielder Le Van Thuan also proved influential for the away side, exploiting gaps and orchestrating dangerous attacking sequences. Hanoi FC’s backline, particularly center-back Dao Van Nam, struggled to contain Thanh Hoa’s fluid movement and quick transitions.

However, the tide turned after the restart. Within minutes of the second half kicking off, Hanoi FC found the equalizer. Forward Daniel Passira was in the right place at the right time, slotting home from close range past goalkeeper Y Eli Nie to level the score at 1-1 and spark life back into the hosts.

The goal ignited Hanoi FC’s momentum, and just 11 minutes later they struck again. Brazilian attacker Luiz Fernando displayed excellent positioning, finishing clinically inside the box to put the home team ahead 2-1 in the 58th minute.

Stunned by the quick turnaround, Thanh Hoa pushed forward in search of an equalizer. They raised the tempo and pressed Hanoi FC’s defense relentlessly, but their attacks lacked precision in the final third. Despite sustained pressure, clear scoring chances were few and far between.

Hanoi FC, on the other hand, defended resolutely and managed the game well in the closing stages. Their backline tightened up significantly compared to the first half, frustrating Thanh Hoa’s strikers and limiting their opportunities.

The match ended 2-1 in favor of Hanoi FC, bringing huge relief to the capital club. It was their first victory of the 2025/26 season after a series of draws and defeats, lifting them to eighth place in the standings with five points.

For Thanh Hoa, the loss compounded a difficult start to the campaign. With only two points after five rounds, they remain second from bottom and face mounting pressure in the relegation battle.

The comeback win could prove a turning point for Hanoi FC as they aim to climb the table and re-establish themselves as contenders in V.League 1 this season.
