Hanoi, 27 September, 2025 – Striker Pham Hai Yen once again proved her class with a brilliant hat-trick, guiding Hanoi to a crucial 3-1 victory over Ha Nam in Round 6 of the Women’s National Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2025. The win allowed the capital club to reclaim top spot in the standings and gain a major advantage in the title race.
The highly anticipated clash took place on the afternoon of September 26, with Hanoi determined to return to the summit after temporarily ceding the lead to Ho Chi Minh City I. Hai Yen rose to the occasion, breaking the deadlock in first-half stoppage time (45+1) with a composed finish. Just six minutes into the second half, the Vietnam international doubled the lead, capping off a dominant spell for her side.
Ha Nam, however, did not surrender easily. In the 65th minute, Vu Thi Hoa capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire home and reduce the deficit to 1-2. The goal reignited hope for the visitors and forced Hanoi onto the back foot in moments of the second half. But deep into injury time, Hai Yen sealed the result in style, completing her hat-trick with a decisive strike in the 90+5 minute. Her performance not only secured three points for Hanoi but also reaffirmed her status as one of Vietnam’s most prolific strikers.
With this victory, Hanoi moved to 14 points from six matches (four wins and two draws), narrowly surpassing defending champions Ho Chi Minh City I, who defeated their junior side Ho Chi Minh City II 3-0 earlier in the day but now sit second with 13 points.
Elsewhere, in the round’s standout match, Than KSVN battled to a 2-1 win over Thai Nguyen T&T. The encounter lived up to expectations, showcasing intensity and high-quality play. Thuy Hang opened the scoring for Than KSVN early on with a powerful header from Thu Thin’s precise cross. Just moments into the second half, Nhat Lan stunned the crowd with a spectacular long-range effort from nearly 40 meters, the slippery ball eluding goalkeeper Kim Thanh to extend the lead to 2-0.
Thai Nguyen T&T responded bravely, pulling a goal back in the 62nd minute through Nhu Quynh’s beautifully struck free kick. Despite mounting pressure in the final half hour, the team from the tea-growing province could not find the equalizer, eventually succumbing to defeat.
The result lifted Than KSVN to third place with 11 points, overtaking Thai Nguyen T&T, who dropped to fourth on eight points. The standings are shaping up for a tight battle at both ends, but for now, Hanoi’s resurgence and Pham Hai Yen’s match-winning heroics headline the story of Round 6.
