Hanoi FC climb into to top half of V.League 1 – 2025/26 standing

Da Nang, 1 October 2025 – Hanoi FC secured a valuable 2-0 away victory over Da Nang in round 6 of the V.League 1 – 2025/26 on October 1, marking their first appearance in the top half of the standings this season.

After a poor run of draws and defeats, Hanoi regained confidence last week with a 2-1 comeback win against Thanh Hoa. That momentum carried into their trip to Hoa Xuan Stadium, where Da Nang were also struggling for form with just one win in their first five matches.

The visitors suffered an early setback around the 15th minute when midfielder Do Hung Dung was forced off with injury, replaced by Dau Van Toan. Despite the disruption, Hanoi maintained their attacking approach with captain Nguyen Van Quyet orchestrating play and the front three of Fernando, Daniel Passira, and Pham Tuan Hai constantly rotating positions.

In the 24th minute, Fernando’s low cross found Van Quyet, whose shot went astray before Tuan Hai fired the rebound over the bar. Ten minutes later, Fernando thought he had opened the scoring when he raced onto Passira’s through ball and chipped past goalkeeper Phan Van Bieu, but VAR ruled him offside.

Hanoi did not have to wait long for a breakthrough. In the 40th minute, Passira surged down the left, beat Le Van Hung, and squared for Tuan Hai to tap into an empty net. Just five minutes later, Dau Van Toan won possession in midfield and fed Passira, who once again provided the killer pass for Fernando. This time, the Brazilian striker calmly slotted into the bottom corner to double the lead.

Da Nang responded in the second half with defensive reinforcement, bringing on Kim Dong-su for Emerson. The hosts began to push forward, nearly pulling one back in the 52nd minute when Milan Makaric’s effort struck the post. Minutes later, Dang Anh Tuan attempted an audacious chip from a tight angle that sailed narrowly wide.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Hoang became Hanoi’s hero in the closing stages. The 1995-born shot-stopper produced a string of vital saves, denying both Makaric and Henen in quick succession before thwarting Russia-born striker Nguyen Vadim in the 81st minute. In stoppage time, Van Hoang was beaten by a Phan Van Long free kick, but the ball ricocheted off the post to preserve his first clean sheet of the season.

The 2-0 win gave Hanoi back-to-back victories and lifted them to sixth place with eight points, level with Hai Phong but ahead on goal difference (+2 to 0). They remain five points adrift of league leaders Ninh Binh, who have played one game fewer.

Hanoi will now pause for the international break, during which the club is expected to confirm a new permanent head coach. Their next fixture is a crucial clash against Ninh Binh on October 18.
