
Uzbekistan, 11 October 2025 – A fighter from Vietnam’s national kickboxing team has brought home a crucial gold medal at the 2025 Kickboxing World Cup, held in Uzbekistan.
On October 11, Vietnamese athletes concluded their events with a commendable overall performance. According to the coaching staff at the competition venue, Team Vietnam collected a total of nine medals, including one gold, three silver, and five bronze.
The nation’s gold medal was claimed by Vo Thi Kim Duyen, who delivered an outstanding display in the women’s 48kg full-contact category. Her victory marked her first-ever World Cup championship title, representing a significant milestone in her sporting career.
In addition to Duyen’s triumph, Bui Thi Yen Nhi secured two silver medals in the 50kg women’s light-contact and 50kg women’s kick-light events, while Nguyen Trung Dung earned silver in the creative form with weapons category. The bronze medalists included Phung Thi Hong Tham, who impressively achieved three podium finishes in the 65kg women’s light-contact, kick-light, and point fighting divisions; Vo Minh Triet in the 48kg men’s full-contact; and Le Tran Hoang Phong in the 45kg men’s full-contact.
Coaches praised the determination and discipline of the Vietnamese athletes, noting that their performances demonstrated strong progress compared to previous international tournaments. The coaching board also revealed that several fighters who competed in Uzbekistan will be shortlisted for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games, scheduled for December 2025 in Thailand.
“This World Cup featured many of the world’s leading kickboxers across a variety of age and weight divisions,” a representative of the coaching staff said. “Our athletes gained valuable international experience, which will serve as a foundation for their future development and preparation for the SEA Games.”
The 2025 Kickboxing World Cup served as an important test for Vietnamese kickboxing ahead of two major events at the end of the year. Following this competition, the 2025 Kickboxing World Championships will be held in the United Arab Emirates from November 21 to 30. The Vietnamese coaching team will conduct a detailed review and register the best-performing athletes for this prestigious global tournament.
Vietnam’s kickboxing scene has made steady progress in recent years, producing a growing number of regional and continental medalists. The latest success in Uzbekistan further confirms Vietnam’s rising position on the international kickboxing map and highlights the country’s ambition to achieve greater results in the months to come.
