Ho Chi Minh City women’s FC clinch historic title, extending decade of dominance

Hanoi, 13 October 2025 – Ho Chi Minh City I Women’s FC officially secured the 2025 Thai Son Bac National Women’s Football Cup championship after a goalless draw with Hanoi, successfully defending their crown and achieving an unprecedented milestone in Vietnamese women’s football history.

On the afternoon of October 13, Ho Chi Minh City I Women’s FC were crowned champions of the 2025 National Women’s Football Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup after holding Hanoi to a 0-0 draw in the final round at Thanh Tri Stadium. The result was enough for coach Doan Thi Kim Chi’s side to finish atop the standings with 21 points, two clear of their closest rivals, and to once again assert their supremacy in domestic women’s football.

The title marks yet another chapter in the dominance of Ho Chi Minh City I, who have reigned over Vietnamese women’s football for more than a decade. Under the leadership of coach Doan Thi Kim Chi, the club has maintained remarkable consistency, blending veteran leadership with the development of emerging talents. From established stars such as Huynh Nhu and Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang to rising prospects like K’Thua, the team’s perfect balance of experience and youth has been the foundation of their long-term success.

For Hanoi Women’s FC, the result was filled with frustration. The capital side had a strong chance to end Ho Chi Minh City’s dominance, even holding control of their title destiny before the final match. However, their inability to convert chances and the champions’ solid defensive organization proved decisive. Despite falling short, Hanoi’s steady progress this season suggests they are closer than ever to breaking through in future campaigns.

Coach Doan Thi Kim Chi praised her players’ resilience and focus throughout the season, particularly in pressure-filled matches. “We’ve faced many challenges this year, but the players never stopped believing. This title belongs to the entire team and to the fans who have supported us all the way,” she shared after the match.

Ho Chi Minh City I also received multiple individual honors following their triumph. Veteran midfielder Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang was named Best Player of the Tournament, while teammate Huynh Nhu once again played a key leadership role. The Fair Play Award went to Ho Chi Minh City I, confirming their excellence both in performance and sportsmanship. Meanwhile, Pham Hai Yen of Hanoi finished as Top Scorer, and Khong Thi Hang from Than KSVN was recognized as Best Goalkeeper.

With this latest victory, Ho Chi Minh City I Women’s FC continue to write history, solidifying their position as the most successful women’s club in Vietnam. As Hanoi’s young stars continue to rise, the rivalry between the two powerhouses promises to bring even more excitement and elevate the standard of Vietnamese women’s football in seasons to come.
