Hanoi, 6 November 2025 – Vietnam’s November 2025 FIFA Days squad announcement drew attention as midfielder Nguyen Xuan Son made his long-awaited return after nearly a year sidelined by injury, marking a significant comeback under head coach Kim Sang-sik.
Vietnam national football team’s squad list for the November 2025 FIFA Days has officially been announced, featuring the notable return of Nguyen Xuan Son after almost a year of absence due to injury. The Nam Dinh midfielder has fully recovered and expressed his eagerness to wear the national team shirt again.
Despite being named in the squad, Xuan Son has yet to play for Nam Dinh FC this season, as he was not registered for the first phase of the V.League 1 2025-2026. While his inclusion signals the coaching staff’s confidence in his recovery, his chances of featuring in the upcoming matches remain uncertain.

Head coach Kim Sang-sik also made headlines by calling up two new faces — defender Khong Minh Gia Bao (Ho Chi Minh City Police FC) and forward Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong (Ho Chi Minh City Police FC). Among them, Viet Cuong has been in fine form at club level, earning praise as one of the most promising Vietnamese forwards capable of competing with Nguyen Tien Linh for a spot in the attacking lineup.
Several young players were unavailable for selection as they remain in training with the Vietnam U23 team, which is undergoing an intensive preparation phase ahead of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. Nevertheless, coach Kim Sang-sik’s squad maintains a balanced mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents, ensuring both stability and freshness within the team.
The Vietnam national team will face Laos in their next 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier, set to take place on November 18 away from home. This match will be an important step for Kim Sang-sik and his players as they aim to secure an early qualification spot for the continental finals.
