Viet Tri, 12 November 2025 – Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam of the Vietnam national team suffered a mild muscle overload injury during training on November 11, but the issue is not serious. He is expected to return to full training on November 13, ahead of Vietnam’s upcoming clash with Laos in the Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
Vietnam’s first-choice goalkeeper Dang Van Lam was absent from the team’s training session on the afternoon of November 12 after experiencing muscle overload in the previous day’s workout. According to the medical staff, the 31-year-old’s condition is minor, and he is following a light rehabilitation program to allow full recovery before rejoining the team.
“Van Lam’s injury is not serious and will not affect his availability for the match against Laos,” a representative from the coaching staff confirmed. “He is expected to return to training tomorrow once the muscle tightness has completely subsided.”
Before the session, defender Pham Xuan Manh updated the team’s condition, saying: “Everyone is healthy. There are no major injuries, and the team’s morale is very positive right now.”
Xuan Manh also praised the return of Nguyen Xuan Son, who recently rejoined the national team after nearly a year recovering from injury. “Xuan Son always brings positive energy to the team. He’s constantly smiling and motivating his teammates,” Xuan Manh shared.
During today’s session, Xuan Son trained normally with the squad, participating in warm-up routines, small-sided possession drills, passing, and tackling exercises. He also showed strong physical fitness and readiness to join the team’s tactical sessions.
After a light recovery-focused session yesterday, head coach Kim Sang Sik increased the training intensity today. The players worked on finishing combinations, set-piece situations, and counterattack defense. Meanwhile, the coaching staff is dedicating time to analyzing Laos to identify the best tactical approach.
“Vietnam’s goal is to win in Laos. We want to bring back all three points,” Xuan Manh stated confidently.
Vietnam will face Laos on November 19 in the Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers. After four matches, coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad currently sit second in the group with nine points — three wins and one draw — trailing leaders Malaysia (12 points).
