Bangkok, 27 November 2025 – SEA Games 33 organizers have confirmed Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok as the new venue for U22 Vietnam’s group-stage matches after flooding rendered Songkhla unable to host.
The organizing committee of SEA Games 33 has officially announced the new competition venue for U22 Vietnam, following severe flooding in Songkhla which made the original stadium unsuitable for hosting. The decision was finalized on the afternoon of 27 November after days of assessment by Thai authorities and the SEA Games organizing council.
According to the updated schedule, both of U22 Vietnam’s group-stage matches against U22 Laos and U22 Malaysia will take place at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on 5 and 11 December. Rajamangala is Thailand’s national stadium and a familiar venue in Southeast Asian football, offering better logistics, transportation and safety compared to flood-hit Songkhla.
Along with the venue change, men’s football at SEA Games 33 will also see adjustments to the tournament draw. U22 Cambodia has withdrawn from the competition, forcing organizers to rebalance the groups. As a result, U22 Singapore has been moved to Group A, joining hosts Thailand and Timor Leste. Group C will now feature only three teams: Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines. Meanwhile, Group B—where U22 Vietnam competes—remains unchanged with Vietnam, Laos and Malaysia.
In the women’s football competition, Cambodia’s withdrawal has also affected the structure. Group A will now include only Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore, while Group B remains intact with Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia.
Men’s football at SEA Games 33 is set to kick off on 3 December, nearly one week before the official opening ceremony of the regional multi-sport event. Despite the late changes, U22 Vietnam continues its preparations with high focus as the team targets a strong performance and aims to compete for the gold medal under head coach Kim Sang-sik.
