Ninh Binh FC reshuffles squad as Dinh Thanh Binh joins Ho Chi Minh City Police FC on loan

Hanoi, 19 January 2026 – Ninh Binh FC have continued their aggressive squad overhaul ahead of the next phase of the V.League 1 2025/2026 season, while striker Dinh Thanh Binh has left the club on loan to Ho Chi Minh City Police FC in search of regular playing time.

Ninh Binh FC have recently completed a series of notable signings as part of their long-term plan for the remainder of the 2025/2026 campaign. The club from the former Hoa Lu capital has brought in several high-profile domestic players, including Truong Tien Anh, Hoang Thai Binh, Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Ngoc My and Le Van Thuan, significantly strengthening squad depth after earning promotion to V.League 1. However, the arrival of new stars has also forced changes in personnel, with several players heading for the exit.

According to an official announcement from the fanpage of Ho Chi Minh City Police FC, the club have successfully signed striker Dinh Thanh Binh from Ninh Binh FC on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 27-year-old forward, a native of Thanh Hoa, is expected to bolster the attacking options of the Thong Nhat Stadium side during the decisive stretch of the campaign. “Moving from Ninh Binh FC, national team striker Dinh Thanh Binh will be an important addition to Ho Chi Minh City Police FC in the upcoming period,” the club stated.

Alongside Dinh Thanh Binh, Nguyen Trong Long and Mach Ngoc Ha are also reportedly close to joining Ho Chi Minh City Police FC, as the southern club continues to reinforce their squad. Dinh Thanh Binh belongs to the generation of Vietnam players who featured at the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2017, yet his career has been marked by ups and downs. He was once sent by Doan Nguyen Duc to reinforce Cong An Nhan Dan when the team were still competing in the Second Division, contributing to their remarkable rise through two tiers to reach the V.League, later renamed Hanoi Police FC.

Earlier in 2019, Dinh Thanh Binh was loaned to The Cong Viettel during their time in the First Division. Regardless of circumstances, the Thanh Hoa-born striker was always praised for his professionalism and fighting spirit, traits that earned him call-ups under former Vietnam head coach Park Hang Seo. Notably, teams he joined on loan often achieved success, with Dinh Thanh Binh scoring eight goals in 20 matches to help Cong An Nhan Dan secure promotion.

Returning to Ham Rong at the start of the 2023 season, Dinh Thanh Binh quickly became a key attacking figure for Hoang Anh Gia Lai. His absence due to injury coincided with a downturn in the club’s form, and under coach Vu Tien Thanh, he rediscovered his scoring touch, playing a crucial role in helping Hoang Anh Gia Lai avoid relegation in the 2023/2024 season.

In the 2024/2025 campaign, Dinh Thanh Binh moved to Phu Dong Ninh Binh in the First Division and continued to shine, contributing significantly to an impressive unbeaten run that secured promotion to V.League 1. However, following the club’s rebranding as Ninh Binh FC and the arrival of multiple domestic and foreign stars for the 2025/2026 season, his opportunities became limited. He has made just four appearances so far without scoring.

As a result, the decision to leave Ninh Binh FC for Ho Chi Minh City Police FC is widely seen as a timely move. With greater chances of regular game time at Thong Nhat Stadium, Dinh Thanh Binh will be hoping to rediscover his best form and revive his ambitions of returning to the Vietnam national team.
