Cao Van Binh opens up about his ideal partner off the pitch

Vinh, 3 February 2026 – After helping Vietnam national under-23 football team secure a historic bronze medal on the continental stage, teenage goalkeeper Cao Van Binh returned home to an emotional and heartwarming welcome from family, neighbors, and local supporters, just days before V.League 1 resumes.

These days, the small road leading to his modest house in Dien Chau district, Nghe An, has become livelier than ever. What used to be a quiet, simple home is now constantly filled with visitors. Children from nearby houses, local fans, and even strangers from afar have come to meet the young goalkeeper, hoping for a photo or autograph from the “Spider-Man” who played a key role in Vietnam’s U23 Asian Cup success.

Despite the sudden spotlight and growing media attention, Van Binh remains the same — gentle, humble, and slightly shy, traits typical of someone from Nghe An.

Reflecting on his life journey, the 2005-born goalkeeper spoke honestly.
“If I didn’t play football or stand between the posts, maybe I would have gone overseas for labor work by now,” he said with a half-joking smile.

Behind that light remark lies a powerful reality. For many young players from poor rural areas, football is not just passion — it is a life-changing opportunity and a path to a better future.

Looking back at the third-place playoff against South Korea, the match that pushed him into the spotlight, Van Binh admitted he was nervous.
“It was the first time I experienced such a big international tournament. Of course I felt pressure, but I always told myself to train hard so I’d be ready when the chance came.”

His surprising composure at such a young age did not come by accident. It was built through relentless preparation.
“I wasn’t surprised to start. Every training session, I give more than 100 percent,” he explained.

Throughout the conversation, Van Binh repeatedly mentioned his parents with deep gratitude. He said his father, in particular, has been his greatest influence. Even when playing far from home, he shares every joy and struggle with his family.

“My parents are my biggest support. They always encourage me before every match. Their love helps me forget the pressure and play with a clear mind,” he said.

When jokingly asked about his personal life — a topic many young female fans are curious about — the shy goalkeeper laughed. Off the field, he showed a softer side.

“My ideal girlfriend should be educated and study well. About appearance, over 1.5 meters tall and cute is enough,” he said bashfully.

Before preparing to return to training, Van Binh expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported him. The encouragement from fans back home and across the country, he said, is the motivation that pushes him to keep improving.

At just 20 years old, the future looks bright. With his talent, humility, and strong family foundation, Cao Van Binh may soon become the next reliable guardian of Vietnam’s goal for years to come.
