Xuan Son trains separately as national team receive reinforcements from Ninh Binh FC

Hanoi, 22 March 2026 – On March 22, Vietnam national team held their second training session as part of preparations for the upcoming clash against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

However, the squad was still not at full strength during this session. Several players from Hanoi Police FC had yet to join the national team due to their commitments in a rescheduled V.League match. Their absence meant the coaching staff continued to work with a reduced group while waiting for the full squad to assemble.

In addition, striker Xuan Son was unable to fully participate in training due to a minor injury. The naturalized forward only took part in the warm-up session before moving to a separate training program. He trained individually alongside players from Ninh Binh FC, who had also reported late after completing their National Cup fixture just a day earlier.

Despite these limitations, the atmosphere during training remained positive and focused. The coaching staff emphasized light tactical drills, fitness recovery, and team coordination as they gradually increased the intensity ahead of the upcoming matches.

The team is expected to be at full strength from March 23, when players from Hanoi Police FC officially join the camp. This will give coach Kim Sang Sik and his staff three full days to finalize preparations before the international friendly against Bangladesh, scheduled for March 26 at Hang Day Stadium.

Following that match, Vietnam will enter a crucial fixture against Malaysia on March 31 at Thien Truong Stadium in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This game is expected to play a key role in determining the team’s final standing and momentum heading into the continental competition.
