Hoang Duc reflects on Hoang Hen’s debut, determined to help Golden Star Warriors defeat Malaysia

Hanoi, 27 March 2026 – Midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc shared his thoughts following the debut of Hoang Hen, while affirming Vietnam’s determination to secure a win against Malaysia in their upcoming 2027 Asian Cup qualifier rematch.

Vietnam recorded a convincing 3–0 victory over Bangladesh on March 27. Reflecting on the match, Hoang Duc described it as an important step to rebuild team chemistry after a long period without a full squad, while also helping new players integrate into the system.

“It’s been a while since the team gathered with many new faces. We are training hard, improving our understanding, and preparing for the match against Malaysia on March 31,” Hoang Duc said.

The 1998-born midfielder also spoke positively about newcomer Do Hoang Hen. Despite limited time playing together, Hoang Duc praised his quality and experience in V.League 1: “Hoang Hen is a very good player who has proven himself over the years. I hope he will make a strong impact and score more goals.”

Looking ahead to the clash with Malaysia, Hoang Duc emphasized the importance of the match, even though Vietnam have already secured qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

“Every match is important. Playing at home, we will give our best, deliver a good performance, and aim for victory to bring joy to the fans,” he stated.

Speaking about Thien Truong Stadium, Hoang Duc highlighted its passionate atmosphere: “Thien Truong always has a large and enthusiastic crowd. I hope the fans will continue to support us and give the team extra motivation on March 31.”

He also noted that the team spirit is currently very positive, boosted by the return of players like Doan Van Hau and Tran Dinh Trong, along with the arrival of new faces. According to Hoang Duc, Hoang Hen has adapted quickly thanks to good communication and strong support from teammates.

“We’ve talked a lot both on and off the pitch. Hoang Hen speaks Vietnamese well, so communication is easy,” he added.

Hoang Duc believes Hoang Hen’s presence adds confidence and better link-up play for the team, though he stressed that tactical roles will ultimately be decided by the coaching staff, with each player expected to fulfill their assigned duties.

Vietnam will continue refining their tactical plans in the coming days before hosting Malaysia at Thien Truong Stadium (Ninh Binh) on March 31. The match is expected to attract a large crowd and create an electric atmosphere as coach Kim Sang Sik’s side aim for another positive result.
