Hanoi, 1 April 2026 – Vietnam national team is the biggest climber in the latest FIFA rankings released by FIFA.
In the newly updated rankings, Vietnam recorded the most impressive rise, jumping nine places to 99th in the world.
Specifically, Vietnam gained an additional 36.17 points, bringing their total to 1,225.68—the highest increase among all teams. This marks the first time in two years that the national team has returned to the top 100.

The strong rise is largely due to the team, led by coach Kim Sang-sik, being awarded a 3–0 victory over Malaysia after their opponent violated player eligibility rules. In addition, wins over Bangladesh (3–0) and Malaysia (3–1) during the March 2026 FIFA Days also contributed valuable points.
Despite climbing nine places, Vietnam remains the second-ranked team in Southeast Asia, behind Thailand. The “War Elephants” secured a crucial win over Turkmenistan to qualify for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, earning enough points to move up to 93rd in the world.
