Vancouver, 29 April 2026 – On April 28, 2026, in Vancouver, Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation, and Chung Mong Gyu, President of the Korea Football Association, officially signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a renewed phase of cooperation between the two federations. The signing ceremony took place just ahead of the 76th FIFA Congress, underlining a shared commitment to further strengthen and expand bilateral football relations.
Representing VFF at the ceremony were Vice President Tran Anh Tu and General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, while KFA was represented by Vice President Lee Young Soo, General Secretary Hanjin Chun, and Head of International Relations Sung Ho Sin.
The first cooperation agreement between the two federations was signed in 2018 and has since been regarded as a key milestone. Through structured and strategic programs, both sides have contributed positively to the development of football in their respective countries. Building on those achievements, the newly signed MoU will remain valid for four years and will automatically extend for an additional two years.

Under the agreement, VFF and KFA will enhance coordination at regional and international football events while promoting the exchange of human resources. Coaches, referees, and football officials from both countries will have opportunities to participate in seminars, training courses, conferences, and tournaments to improve professional expertise and share knowledge.
The cooperation also covers the exchange of coaching staff, including instructors working at youth academies, as well as media and marketing specialists involved in football events. Refereeing collaboration is another key focus, with both sides agreeing to facilitate opportunities for AFC and FIFA Elite referees and assistant referees to officiate international friendly matches. Joint training programs for high-level referees will also be organized.
In addition, both federations will continue to promote training camps and friendly matches for national teams across all levels, including youth, women’s, futsal, and senior squads. Support will be provided in terms of logistics, facilities, and professional arrangements, ensuring teams can compete against quality opponents. Youth and women’s teams will also benefit from increased participation in international tournaments and exchange programs.
At the league level, cooperation between V.League 1 and K-League will be strengthened, focusing on sharing expertise in competition management, match organization, infrastructure, and sports medicine. Staff from both federations will be given opportunities to join professional development programs to enhance their capabilities.
This renewed MoU highlights the strong and enduring partnership between VFF and KFA, while opening the door for deeper collaboration and sustainable growth in the years ahead.
