Ministry of National Defense prepares to take over My Dinh National Sports Complex
According to Vietnam Defense Television, Lieutenant General Le Van Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, chaired a meeting on May 18 with relevant agencies and units regarding preparations for the transfer of the My Dinh National Sports Complex.
To ensure the handover process is carried out properly and in accordance with the law, Lieutenant General Le Van Huong ordered the establishment of a steering committee and a dedicated working group. The task force will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the complex while advising on plans for the transfer and future operations. Relevant units will review documents and compare them with on-site conditions in order to develop detailed proposals based on their responsibilities.
Aligned with Hanoi’s 100-year development vision
Earlier, on May 15, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra chaired a meeting with ministries and agencies to discuss the transfer plan. While acknowledging the contributions of the sports complex over the past 25 years, she emphasized the need to completely resolve the prolonged difficulties and unresolved issues surrounding the facility.
The transfer proposal must also align with Vietnam’s national sports development strategy and Hanoi’s 100-year urban planning vision. Authorities are expected to coordinate the plan with major upcoming projects, including the sports complex north of the Red River and the future Olympic sports urban area.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been tasked with urgently completing a comprehensive report identifying the key obstacles and proposing specific solutions. Authorities stressed that all activities at the sports complex must continue normally during the transition process without disruption.
Relevant agencies are required to complete and submit their reports before May 25, 2026, for final review and decision by the Prime Minister.
