Brussel, 20 July 2026 – Overseas Vietnamese defender Lenn-Minh Tran has announced his departure from MVV Maastricht, potentially opening the door to a new chapter in his promising career. The young right-back had been part of the Dutch club, which competes in the Netherlands’ second tier.
According to reports circulating in the transfer market, Lenn-Minh Tran has recently signalled his interest in a potential move to Ho Chi Minh City Police FC ahead of the 2026/27 season. While there has yet to be an official announcement regarding his next destination, the possibility of the young defender moving to Vietnam has already attracted considerable attention from local football fans.
Born on March 13, 2007, Lenn-Minh Tran comes from a multicultural family background. His father is of Vietnamese descent, while his mother is Belgian. Both Tran and his father reportedly hold Belgian citizenship, while his grandfather still retains his Vietnamese birth certificate, a detail that could be relevant to the player’s efforts to establish his legal connection with Vietnam.
Notably, the 19-year-old defender is reportedly in the process of applying for Vietnamese citizenship. Should the process be successfully completed, it could potentially create new opportunities for Tran to develop his career in Vietnamese football and, depending on his eligibility and future performances, possibly put himself on the radar of Vietnam’s national youth teams or even the senior national team.
Primarily operating as a right-back, Tran has developed in a European football environment, giving him valuable experience at a young age.
