Vietnam U20 women’s team ready for World Cup qualification quest

Hanoi, 29 March 2026 – On the morning of March 29, the Vietnam U20 women’s national team departed for Thailand, officially beginning their journey at the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup finals.

The squad, led by coach Okiyama Masahiko, flew out from Tan Son Nhat Airport and landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok at 10:30 local time. After completing immigration procedures, the team quickly transferred to the Jubilee Prestige Ratchadaphisek Hotel to check in, settle down, and prepare for the tournament.

Before departure, the coaching staff finalized the official 23-player squad for the competition, ensuring full readiness both in personnel and preparation.

At the finals, Vietnam have been drawn into a challenging group alongside U20 China, U20 Thailand, and U20 Bangladesh. According to the schedule, Vietnam will kick off their campaign against U20 China at 16:00 on April 1 at Nonthaburi Stadium.

The tournament will take place in Thailand from April 1 to April 18, featuring 12 teams divided into three groups. After the round-robin group stage, the three group winners, three runners-up, and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the knockout quarterfinals. Notably, the top four teams will earn qualification for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Following their arrival, Vietnam will immediately begin training sessions to fine-tune tactics and physical condition, aiming to compete strongly and achieve positive results on the continental stage.
