Hanoi, 9 May 2026 – A total of 12 clubs have officially received licenses to compete in V.League 1 for the 2026/2027 season, including Song Lam Nghe An, who successfully resolved their financial issues in time. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa remain under review and are still waiting for final approval.
The Vietnam Football Federation Licensing Committee recently held a meeting to evaluate and approve club licenses for the upcoming V.League 1 campaign. Following the review process, 12 clubs were granted full licenses, while four others received conditional approval.
The clubs officially cleared to participate include Ho Chi Minh FC, Hanoi Police FC, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC, The Cong Viettel, Hanoi FC, Nam Dinh, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, PVF-CAND, Da Nang, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Song Lam Nghe An, and Ninh Binh.
For Song Lam Nghe An, the decision comes as a major relief for supporters after concerns emerged over the club’s financial situation. The Nghe An-based side was ultimately able to meet the required financial criteria and secure its place in the league.
Four clubs — Dong Nai, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong FC, and Thanh Hoa — were granted licenses with additional conditions attached. In the cases of Dong Nai and Bac Ninh, both clubs would only be eligible to compete in V.League 1 next season if they achieve promotion from the First Division.
Meanwhile, Hai Phong FC and Thanh Hoa must still complete several administrative and financial requirements. Both clubs have been instructed to submit the necessary documents related to finance and administrative personnel to the VFF Licensing Committee before May 22, 2026. Failure to meet the deadline could result in them being denied participation in next season’s V.League 1.
The 2026/2027 V.League 1 season is expected to begin in September 2026, shortly after the conclusion of the AFF ASEAN Cup 2026 involving the Vietnam national team.
