Indonesia, 28 May 2025 – Vietnam U19 arrived in Medan, Indonesia, on the evening of May 28, receiving significant attention from local media ahead of the ASEAN U19 Championship 2026.
A large number of Indonesian journalists and photographers were present at the airport to cover the arrival of coach Yutaka Ikeuchi and his squad, highlighting the growing interest in one of the tournament’s most highly regarded teams.
According to the pre-arranged travel plan coordinated by the Vietnam Football Federation, the 36-member Vietnamese delegation completed its journey on schedule. Immigration procedures, transit connections, and baggage collection were handled smoothly without any unexpected issues.
Despite spending nearly an entire day traveling, all players and staff arrived in good health and maintained a positive mindset throughout the trip.
After completing airport formalities in Medan, the team headed directly to their hotel to rest and begin preparations for their first training sessions in Indonesia.
The strong media presence at the airport reflected the attention being given to this year’s tournament, particularly toward teams expected to challenge for top honors in Group A.
The ASEAN U19 Championship 2026 will take place in Indonesia from June 1 to June 14 and serves as an important stepping stone for Vietnam U19 as they prepare for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
Vietnam U19 are scheduled to face Timor-Leste on June 1, Myanmar on June 4, and hosts Indonesia on June 7 in the group stage.
