Cong Phuong secures early promotion to V.League 1 with Truong Tuoi Dong Nai

Dong Nai, 30 May 2026 – Nguyen Cong Phuong scored for the third consecutive match as Truong Tuoi Dong Nai secured a crucial victory and officially clinched the 2025/26 National First Division title with one round to spare.

Vietnamese football fans turned their attention to Dong Nai’s home clash against Long An FC in Round 21, with the hosts needing a win to seal the championship early. Determined to achieve that goal, Dong Nai pushed forward from the opening whistle.

After wasting several opportunities in the first half, the hosts came to life after the break. Alex Sandro opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 51st minute before Xuan Truong doubled the advantage with a close-range header 11 minutes later.

Just two minutes after the second goal, Cong Phuong added a third to cap off a dominant performance. The strike extended his scoring streak to three consecutive matches and further highlighted his importance in Dong Nai’s successful title challenge.

The 3-0 victory over Long An, combined with Bac Ninh FC’s 4-2 win against Quy Nhon United, confirmed Dong Nai as champions. With a five-point lead over second-placed Bac Ninh and only one round remaining, the title race is mathematically over.

By winning the National First Division, Dong Nai have secured automatic promotion to V.League 1 for the 2026/27 season. Meanwhile, Bac Ninh will enter a promotion/relegation playoff against the team finishing 13th in V.League 1 to compete for the final place in next season’s top flight.
