VFF provide latest update on national team preparations for the ASEAN Cup 2026

Hanoi, 5 June 2026 – VFF has been actively implementing a comprehensive preparation plan for Vietnam National Football Team ahead of the ASEAN Cup 2026.

In recent months, the VFF’s professional departments, working closely with head coach Kim Sang-sik, have developed a detailed roadmap aimed at ensuring the national team is fully prepared for Southeast Asia’s premier football tournament.

The plan covers player call-ups, training camps, international friendly matches, and enhanced coordination with domestic clubs to optimize the team’s preparation process. The objective is to provide the coaching staff with the strongest possible squad while maintaining a balanced approach that respects club commitments.

With the V.League 1 season still ongoing, the VFF has continued to work closely with clubs to ensure harmony between domestic competition schedules and national team responsibilities. Flexible player management strategies have been designed to protect club interests while meeting the national team’s technical and tactical requirements.

A key step in this process took place on May 20, 2026, when VFF officials met with representatives of Hanoi Police FC to discuss preparations for the tournament. During the meeting, the club reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the national team and expressed its willingness to release players whenever required to help Vietnam prepare effectively for AFF Cup 2026.

The continued cooperation between the VFF and professional clubs reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Vietnamese football. Through coordinated planning and mutual support, all parties are working toward the common goal of helping Vietnam achieve another successful campaign at the ASEAN Cup 2026.
