Curtain falls on LP Bank V.League 1 – 2025/26: SHB Da Nang’s remarkable survival story

Hanoi, 7 June 2026 – LPBank V.League 1 2025/26 officially came to an end today ( June 7) following a dramatic final round that delivered excitement at both ends of the table.

Although Hanoi Police FC had already secured the championship and lifted the trophy in Round 25, the battles for the top three positions and survival remained unresolved heading into the final day of the season.

At Ninh Binh Arena, Ninh Binh FC needed at least one point against Hong Linh Ha Tinh to secure third place ahead of the chasing Hanoi FC. The Hoa Lu-based club even had an outside chance of finishing second if results elsewhere went their way.

Backed by thousands of home supporters, Ninh Binh exceeded expectations with a convincing 2-0 victory. Meanwhile, Hanoi FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Ho Chi Minh City Police FC after surrendering an early lead and being reduced to ten men in the second half.

At the same time, The Cong Viettel defeated Hanoi Police FC 1-0 to secure the runners-up position. The result confirmed The Cong Viettel as league vice-champions, while Ninh Binh claimed the bronze medal in their first-ever V.League 1 campaign, marking a remarkable debut season for the club.

The relegation battle proved equally dramatic. Before the final round, Da Nang FC, PVF-CAND, and Becamex Binh Duong were all level on 21 points.

Da Nang and PVF-CAND knew victory would guarantee control of their own destiny, while Becamex Binh Duong faced a more complicated scenario. They needed to defeat Hoang Anh Gia Lai and hope that either Da Nang or PVF-CAND failed to win.

However, Becamex Binh Duong’s hopes were dashed as both Da Nang and PVF-CAND delivered impressive victories. Da Nang thrashed Thanh Hoa FC 4-0, while PVF-CAND defeated Song Lam Nghe An 3-1.

Those results ensured Da Nang’s survival in V.League 1, while PVF-CAND earned the right to compete in a promotion-relegation playoff against Bac Ninh FC for a place in the 2026/27 season.

As a result, the final standings saw Hanoi Police FC crowned champions, The Cong Viettel finish second, and Ninh Binh secure a historic third-place finish. PVF-CAND will now enter the playoff, while Becamex Binh Duong were relegated to the National First Division.

The 2025/26 season will be remembered as one of the most competitive V.League campaigns in recent years, with key positions remaining undecided until the final round. The intense title race, battle for continental qualification, and relegation fight highlighted the increasing balance and competitiveness across Vietnamese professional football.

With the league season now complete, attention turns to the LPBank National Cup 2025/26, where the semi-finals will be played on June 11 before the final takes place on June 14, bringing the curtain down on the 2025/26 Vietnamese professional football season.
