Hanoi, 2 July 2026 – On the morning of July 2, the Vietnam national team departed for Incheon, South Korea, where they will hold a two-week training camp until July 14 as part of the final phase of preparations for the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
Before leaving for South Korea, head coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad spent more than a week training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from June 23 to July 1. During this period, the coaching staff focused on improving the players’ physical conditioning while gradually building chemistry within the squad, particularly among the newly called-up players as they adapted to the national team environment.

The South Korea training camp will feature three friendly matches against increasingly stronger opponents, giving the coaching staff an opportunity to assess the squad and fine-tune tactical plans ahead of the regional tournament.
Vietnam will first face K.League 3 side Siheung FC on July 5. Three days later, Kim Sang Sik’s men will take on K.League 2 club Yongin FC before concluding the camp with their toughest test against K.League 1 outfit Gangwon FC on July 13. The final match is expected to provide the clearest indication of the team’s readiness before returning home.

Alongside players who are already in full fitness, several key squad members recovering from injuries, including Do Duy Manh, Khuat Van Khang, and Le Ngoc Bao, have also traveled with the team. Keeping them involved in the training camp will allow the medical staff to closely monitor their rehabilitation while helping the trio gradually regain match fitness and prepare for a return once they receive medical clearance.
The coaching staff views the South Korea camp as the most important stage of Vietnam’s preparations for the ASEAN Cup. Through intensive training sessions and three competitive friendlies, Kim Sang Sik and his assistants aim to evaluate each player’s form, finalize tactical options, and identify the strongest possible squad as the defending champions seek to retain their Southeast Asian crown.
According to the schedule, Vietnam will return to Hanoi on July 14 after completing the training camp. Four days later, on July 18, they will play an international friendly against Myanmar at Thai Nguyen Stadium. The match will serve as the team’s final dress rehearsal before beginning the defense of their ASEAN Cup title, with their opening fixture set to be an away clash against Timor-Leste on July 24.
