Hanoi, 13 July 2026 – The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has officially announced Vietjet Air as the Official Airline Partner for four of the region’s premier football competitions, further strengthening the airline’s presence in Southeast Asian sports.
The partnership, unveiled on July 13, covers the ASEAN Cup, the ASEAN Club Championship, the ASEAN Women’s Championship, and the AFF U23 Championship.
As the official airline partner, Vietjet will support the movement of fans across Southeast Asia while helping connect host cities and participating nations throughout AFF’s flagship competitions. The partnership will begin with the ASEAN Cup 2026, widely regarded as Southeast Asia’s most prestigious football tournament and the region’s biggest sporting event.
Speaking at the announcement, To Viet Thang, Permanent Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet, said the agreement reflects the airline’s broader mission beyond transportation.
“Our partnership with the AFF competitions once again demonstrates Vietjet’s commitment not only to connecting destinations, but also to bringing people, cultures, and shared values across communities closer together.”
AFF President Major General Khiev Sameth also welcomed the new partnership.
“On behalf of the AFF, I am delighted to welcome Vietjet to the Southeast Asian football family. With connectivity at the heart of its business, Vietjet is an ideal partner for AFF competitions.”
Although Vietjet has become the AFF’s official airline partner, the agreement does not require participating national teams to use the carrier. Teams, including Vietnam, will continue selecting airlines based on their own travel schedules and logistical requirements.
Vietnam will begin the defense of its ASEAN Cup title later this month. During the group stage, head coach Kim Sang-sik and his squad will play away matches against Timor-Leste on July 24—with the match being held in Thailand—and Indonesia on August 3.
The reigning champions are currently completing a training camp in Incheon, South Korea, which began on July 2. Vietnam has already recorded friendly victories over Siheung FC (6-0) and Yongin FC (2-1), with a final warm-up match against Gangwon FC scheduled for later on July 13.
After returning from South Korea, Vietnam will continue preparations with an international friendly against Myanmar at Thai Nguyen Stadium on July 18, serving as the team’s final test before launching its title defense at the ASEAN Cup 2026.
