Suzhou, 2 Sep, 2026 – Vietnam women’s national football team travelled to Suzhou, China, on the morning of September 2 to begin an important training camp ahead of the ASIAD 2026 women’s football tournament in Japan.
The camp represents the final stage of preparation for head coach Hoang Van Phuc and his players before they begin their continental campaign.
Vietnam will train in Suzhou from September 2 to 11, with the coaching staff initially focusing on strengthening the players’ physical condition, refining tactical plans and maintaining their competitive sharpness following the domestic national championship.
As part of the training programme, Vietnam are scheduled to play two friendly matches during their stay in China.
Their first test will come against Jiangsu Nanjing Women’s FC on September 5, before Hoang Van Phuc’s side face the China women’s national team on September 9.
The two matches will provide valuable opportunities for the coaching staff to assess the squad’s condition and performance while continuing to fine-tune the starting lineup and tactical options ahead of the Asian Games.
Following the Suzhou training camp, Vietnam will travel directly to Japan, where the ASIAD 2026 women’s football competition is scheduled to begin on September 14.
Vietnam Drawn with Hosts Japan
Vietnam face a challenging group-stage campaign after being drawn alongside hosts Japan, Chinese Taipei and Thailand.
With all three opponents possessing considerable international experience, the group is expected to provide a demanding test for Hoang Van Phuc’s side.
Vietnam will open their campaign against Chinese Taipei on September 14, before facing their toughest group-stage challenge against Japan on September 17.
Their final group match will see them take on Southeast Asian rivals Thailand on September 21, a fixture that could prove important in determining their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
With three competitive matches against strong opponents awaiting them in Japan, physical conditioning and tactical preparation will be crucial.
The training camp in Suzhou is therefore expected to play an important role in helping Vietnam complete their preparations and enter ASIAD 2026 in the best possible condition, with Hoang Van Phuc and his players determined to produce a strong showing on the continental stage.
