Hanoi, 13 June, 2025 – Promising forward Nguyen Dinh Bac is set to join the upcoming training camp of the U23 Vietnam national team as preparations ramp up for the 2025 AFF U23 Championship. The striker from Hanoi Police FC is making a much-anticipated return following his recovery from injury, bringing renewed depth and firepower to the squad’s frontline.
Dinh Bac’s inclusion is a major boost for U23 Vietnam, particularly given the team’s current lack of standout attacking options. The 2004-born talent from Nghe An had been sidelined since March after suffering a fracture in his fifth toe during a training session with U22 Vietnam. Initially expected to miss at least three months, Dinh Bac’s recovery has progressed faster than anticipated.
According to sources from Vietnam Sports News, the striker has now fully recovered. Recent images released by Hanoi Police FC show Dinh Bac actively participating in training and completing the full workload set by head coach Mano Polking. Although medically cleared to return to action, coach Polking has chosen to delay the striker’s competitive comeback to ensure his complete safety and long-term fitness.
Widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Vietnamese football, Dinh Bac has impressed across various youth levels, including U19, U20, and previous editions of the AFF U23 Championship. His versatility, technical ability, and modern attacking mindset have made him a standout performer in youth competitions.
Dinh Bac’s return adds valuable depth to coach Hoang Anh Tuan’s squad as they aim to defend their AFF U23 Championship title. Moreover, the tournament in Indonesia will serve as an important stepping stone toward the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand later this year.
U23 Vietnam will compete in Group B at the 2025 AFF U23 Championship alongside Laos and Cambodia. The tournament is scheduled to take place from July 15 to 29 in Indonesia, where Vietnam enters as defending champions and favorites for the title.
