Ha Tinh, 28 June, 2025 – Hong Linh Ha Tinh officially announced the departure of head coach Nguyen Thanh Cong on the evening of June 28, marking the end of a five-season journey between the two sides in the V.League.
“After a journey of over four years and five V.League seasons together, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to coach Nguyen Thanh Cong – a figure who has left a profound mark on the club’s history,” read the official statement posted on the club’s website.
Nguyen Thanh Cong took charge of Ha Tinh in September 2021 during a period of instability. He quickly brought stability, implemented a disciplined playing style, and instilled a resilient spirit into the squad. Under his guidance, Ha Tinh not only avoided relegation in multiple seasons but also finished fifth in the 2024/25 V.League – a remarkable achievement for the club.
Known for his professionalism and dedication, Nguyen Thanh Cong is widely respected for his ethical approach to coaching. He played a pivotal role in nurturing young talents, maintaining strong unity in the dressing room, and serving as a vital source of motivation during difficult times. The club described him as a “man with a pure heart” and an indispensable part of their growth journey.
Despite his current contract still being valid, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong decided to step down due to ongoing health issues. Throughout the recent seasons, he had to rely on medication to sustain his physical condition while managing the team. Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign, he submitted a formal request to take a break in order to focus on recovery.
Initially, the club’s leadership attempted to persuade him to stay, hoping he would continue to lead the team. However, after acknowledging the coach’s determination and legitimate health concerns, the board ultimately respected his decision and approved his resignation.
The farewell was marked by mutual respect and admiration. Nguyen Thanh Cong leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by Hong Linh Ha Tinh supporters.
