Vietnam women’s national team regroups to prepare for 2025 AFF Women’s Championship

Hanoi, 13 July, 2025 – Vietnam women’s national football team officially began their second training camp of 2025 on July 13, marking their return after a short one-week break. This training phase is part of their preparation for the upcoming 2025 AFF Women’s Championship, which will be hosted in Vietnam from August 6 to August 19.

Compared to the squad that recently competed in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, head coach Mai Duc Chung has made several adjustments. Notably, defender Tran Thi Hai Linh (Hanoi), midfielder Tran Thi Thu Xuan, and center-back Le Thi Bao Tram (Than KSVN) have all been recalled, bringing the total number of players in camp to 28.

Coach Mai Duc Chung continues to rely on a strong and experienced coaching staff, including fitness coach Brandi Jose Regato Neto and assistants Doan Minh Hai, Doan Thi Kim Chi, Nguyen Thi Kim Hong, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, along with the team’s medical personnel.

According to the training schedule, the squad assembled and checked in at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center on the morning of July 13 and held their first training session later that day.

The team will remain in Hanoi for a week before heading to Quang Ninh for a 10-day intensive training camp. They are scheduled to arrive in Hai Phong on July 30 to finalize preparations before the tournament kicks off in early August.

With Vietnam set to host the 2025 AFF Women’s Championship, expectations are high for the home side to perform strongly. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his players are determined to fine-tune their tactics, improve fitness, and build team cohesion ahead of the regional tournament.
