Nguyen Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang earned spots at 2025 BWF World Championships in France

Hanoi, 11 July, 2025 – Vietnam will be represented by six athletes at the 2025 BWF World Championships in France, including top women’s singles players Nguyen Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 25 to 31.

According to the Vietnam Badminton Federation and the Department of Elite Sports under the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed Vietnam’s six-player quota for the prestigious tournament on July 11.

In the women’s singles category, Nguyen Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang have both secured official spots. Thuy Linh, currently ranked 20th in the world, is Vietnam’s top-ranked female shuttler. She recently completed two back-to-back tournaments on the BWF World Tour Super 300 circuit in North America, earning the runner-up title at the Canada Open 2025.

Vu Thi Trang’s selection comes as a surprise to many, as she has not competed regularly on the international circuit in recent months. However, the Ho Chi Minh City-based athlete still holds the second-highest BWF world ranking among Vietnamese female players at No. 157. Her most recent international appearance was at the Vietnam International Challenge in March 2025, where she delivered a respectable performance.

Vu Thi Trang will compete at the 2025 World Championships.

On the men’s side, Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat have both secured slots in the men’s singles competition. The duo has been actively competing in international tournaments, including recent appearances in the United States and Canada, in a bid to improve their world rankings and match sharpness ahead of the World Championships.

In men’s doubles, the BWF granted spots to Tran Dinh Manh and Nguyen Dinh Hoang, who recently captured the title at the 2025 Vietnam International Challenge, further solidifying their place among Vietnam’s elite badminton pairs.

At the most recent BWF World Championships held in 2023, Vietnam was represented by just two athletes — Nguyen Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Dang. The expanded quota this year marks a notable step forward for Vietnamese badminton as the country continues its push to compete at higher levels on the global stage.

The 2025 World Championships in France will offer a prime opportunity for Vietnam’s top players to gain experience, showcase their talent, and further enhance their standings in the international arena.
