Thanh Hoa, 15 July, 2025 – At the age of 32, former Vietnam national team captain Que Ngoc Hai has officially signed with Thanh Hoa FC on a three-year contract following his departure from Binh Duong FC, which has recently been renamed Ho Chi Minh City FC. This move is expected to be the final destination in the veteran center-back’s illustrious career.
Speaking about his decision, Que Ngoc Hai shared his admiration for Thanh Hoa’s fighting spirit and ambition: “This club has always stood out for its fierce determination and hunger to succeed. I know there are many promising young players here, as well as senior teammates whom I hold in special regard.”
“At this stage of my career, I hope to receive support from my new teammates and will give my maximum effort to contribute to the club’s success in the 2025-2026 season. I truly hope the team will receive unwavering support from football fans in Thanh Hoa,” he added.
Que Ngoc Hai is the first official signing of Thanh Hoa FC in the 2025 summer transfer window. The deal was initiated at the request of head coach Choi Won Kwon, who identified the need to reinforce the squad with experienced players. Thanh Hoa acted quickly, recognizing the value Que Ngoc Hai brings as a seasoned defender and leader on and off the pitch.
With 80 caps for the Vietnam national team, Que Ngoc Hai is the second-most capped player in the team’s history. He was a key figure in Vietnam’s historic AFF Cup (now ASEAN Cup) triumph in 2018 and served as the national team captain during several major tournaments.
The addition of Que Ngoc Hai is expected to bring leadership and stability to Thanh Hoa’s defense, as the club sets its sights on improving its position in the V.League 1 standings for the upcoming season. This move also signifies Thanh Hoa’s ambition under coach Choi Won Kwon to build a competitive squad blending youth and experience.
The 2025-2026 season will be a crucial chapter for both Que Ngoc Hai and Thanh Hoa FC as they aim to reach new heights together.
