VFF responds to reports of Quang Nam FC’s withdrawal from LP Bank V.League 1 – 2025/26

Hanoi, 21 July, 2025 – Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has issued an official response following widespread reports that Quang Nam FC will not participate in the upcoming 2025/2026 V-League season.

Despite ongoing preparations for the new season, Quang Nam FC found itself at the center of controversy after multiple domestic media outlets on July 21 reported that the club would withdraw from the V-League due to a merger with Da Nang FC. According to these reports, all current personnel of Quang Nam—including office staff, coaching staff, first-team players, and youth team members—would be transferred to Da Nang FC.

The news came as a surprise to many supporters of Quang Nam, especially since the club had previously affirmed on July 7 that it was operating normally amid circulating rumors regarding its future. Most recently, on July 20, Quang Nam participated in a pre-season friendly tournament and secured a 1-1 draw against Da Nang FC, further indicating its readiness for the new campaign.

In response to the media reports, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu confirmed to VOV.VN that the federation has not received any official document or communication from Quang Nam FC regarding a withdrawal from the 2025/2026 V-League season.

Furthermore, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), the organizer of the V-League, has also not issued any official announcement concerning the reported merger between Quang Nam FC and Da Nang FC, nor any changes to Quang Nam’s participation in the upcoming season.

If Quang Nam FC were indeed to withdraw, the V-League would be reduced to 13 teams for the 2025/2026 season. This would mark a significant shift, especially considering that VPF conducted the official fixture draw for the new season just last week, with Quang Nam included among the participating clubs.

For now, the situation remains uncertain, as neither the VFF nor VPF has confirmed any structural changes involving Quang Nam FC. Fans and stakeholders across Vietnamese football await further clarification as the new season approaches.
