Vietnam U20 women’s team wraps up training camp in Japan

Japan, 21 July, 2025 – Vietnam U20 women’s national team has completed its final preparations in Japan and is set to return home to finalize its readiness for the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Under the guidance of head coach Okiyama Masahiko, the training camp in Japan was considered a crucial part of the team’s build-up to the qualifiers. Coach Masahiko aimed to expose the players to Japan’s high-tempo playing style, helping them adapt to faster decision-making and match intensity.

The camp proved productive, as Vietnam U20 women secured their first victory during a training match against Iwata Higashi High School on July 17. Despite continued rotation and experimentation with the squad to ensure all players gain experience, the coaching staff noted visible improvements in confidence and execution.

According to the coaching team, the players’ increasing confidence in executing their tactical approach is a key element as they gear up for the challenging qualification campaign. Vietnam has been drawn into a group featuring Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong (China), and Singapore—teams known for their physical strength and solid defensive organization. In contrast, Vietnam will rely on speed and technical finesse to gain the upper hand.

The five-match training schedule in Japan has served as a valuable warm-up, providing the players with much-needed exposure and allowing the coaching staff to assess both technical and tactical readiness. The team’s ability to compete with opponents of similar strength has offered vital insights and momentum ahead of the official fixtures.

Vietnam U20 women’s team will return to Vietnam today, where they will complete their final preparations before entering the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers. With growing confidence and international match experience under their belt, the team aims to make a strong impression in the upcoming campaign.
