Hanoi, 5 August, 2025 – On August 5, the press conference ahead of Group B matches for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers was held at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) headquarters. Head coach Okiyama Masahiko affirmed the team’s determination to secure a place in the final tournament.
“I am satisfied with our preparation so far. The squad is in good shape with no injuries. Personally, I feel no pressure, and our clear objective is to reach the final round,” coach Masahiko stated. When asked about concerns regarding the group’s opponents, he emphasized that the team remains focused on their own preparation while respecting every opponent they face.
Masahiko also added: “The selection of players for the national team is up to the head coach of the senior side, but we will give our recommendations because our ultimate goal is to do what is best for the players’ development.”
Team captain Luu Hoang Van Cac expressed confidence ahead of the qualifiers: “Although our group opponents are strong, we have prepared well. We have a clear goal and will work hard to achieve it. I have learned many valuable lessons from playing alongside senior players, from their mentality to their playing style, and we will overcome all challenges with unity.”
Vietnam U20 Women’s Team has been training intensively following a successful camp in Japan, where they gained valuable experience against high-paced opponents. The squad is now fully focused on delivering strong performances on home soil.
According to the schedule, Vietnam will kick off their campaign against Singapore on August 6, followed by matches against Hong Kong (China) on August 8, and Kyrgyzstan on August 10. All matches will take place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center in Hanoi, with kick-off times set at 19:00.
With thorough preparation, full squad fitness, and a clear determination, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his players are ready to fight for a ticket to the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
