Incheon, 1 November 2025 – U17 Hanoi FC wrapped up their journey at the K-League International Youth Cup Incheon 2025 in South Korea with a 5-1 loss to Bupyeong High School. Despite showing promise in earlier matches, the young team ran out of steam in their fifth consecutive game in just six days.
U17 Hanoi FC team, representing Vietnamese youth football, played their final match at the K-League International Youth Cup Incheon 2025, bringing their campaign in South Korea to a close. The match was seen as an opportunity for coach Pham Minh Duc and his players to earn their first victory after a series of challenging fixtures against strong international opponents.
Before the final match, U17 Hanoi FC had shown commendable effort with three draws against KAA Gent (Belgium), Pohang Steelers (South Korea), and Seongnam FC (South Korea), before suffering a 0-5 defeat to Gamba Osaka (Japan). However, playing their fifth match since October 24 took a visible toll on the team’s stamina.
In their final outing, the Hanoi youngsters struggled to maintain accuracy and defensive discipline, conceding four goals in the first half. Despite their best efforts to regroup, fatigue remained a major obstacle.
In the 52nd minute, Hanoi FC was awarded a penalty, which Bui Tuan Anh successfully converted to narrow the gap to 1-4. However, their hopes of a comeback were short-lived as Bupyeong High School sealed the result with a fifth goal in the 57th minute, ending the match 5-1 in favor of the South Korean side.
With this result, U17 Hanoi FC concluded the K-League International Youth Cup Incheon 2025 with three draws and two defeats, falling short of qualifying for the final round.
Despite not advancing, the tournament provided valuable international experience for the young Vietnamese players, allowing them to compete against high-level opponents from Asia and Europe. The lessons learned in Incheon are expected to be crucial for Hanoi FC’s future youth development and for Vietnam’s preparation toward the U19 national team campaign in the coming years.
