Qatar, 26 December 2025 – At 17:00 on December 26, Vietnam U23 landed at Doha International Airport (Qatar) to begin their training camp ahead of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 finals.
Vietnam U23 arrived in Doha at 17:00 today (December 26, Vietnam time) after an eight-hour flight, officially starting their overseas training phase in preparation for the continental tournament. After completing immigration procedures, the entire squad returned to the hotel to rest and settle in. Despite the long journey, the players remained in good spirits and are ready for an intensive training schedule.
Vietnam U23 are expected to train in Qatar for one week before traveling to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Asian Cup finals.

As part of their preparation, Vietnam U23 will play a friendly match against Syria U23 to improve adaptability and fine-tune tactical elements. Syria U23, also from West Asia, favor a direct style of play with an emphasis on wing attacks and long balls—similar to the approaches of Jordan U23 and Saudi Arabia U23. The most recent official meeting between Vietnam U23 and Syria U23 ended in a 0-0 draw in the group stage of the 2018 AFC U23 Asian Cup, a tournament in which Vietnam went on to make history by reaching the final and finishing as runners-up.
At the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026, Vietnam U23 are drawn into Group A alongside host Saudi Arabia U23—the 2022 champions—Jordan U23, and Kyrgyzstan U23, who are making their first-ever appearance at a U23 Asian Cup finals. The group is considered highly competitive, featuring a title contender, a tactically unpredictable opponent, and an ambitious debutant.
According to the match schedule, Vietnam U23 will face Jordan U23 in their opening match on January 6, then meet Kyrgyzstan U23 on January 9, before concluding the group stage against host Saudi Arabia U23 on January 12.
