Ho Chi Minh City Police FC sign Australian-Vietnamese midfielder

Ho Chi Minh City, 4 January 2026 – Ho Chi Minh City Police FC have successfully completed the signing of Australian-Vietnamese midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa (also known as Khoa Ngo) to strengthen the squad ahead of Phase 2 of V.League 1 2025/26.

Born in 2006, Ngo Dang Khoa is a Vietnamese-Australian player who previously played for Perth Glory, a well-known club competing in the A-League, the highest level of professional football in Australia. Operating primarily as an attacking midfielder, Dang Khoa is highly regarded for his tactical awareness, creativity, and ability to create breakthroughs in the final third.

The young midfielder was recruited at the request of head coach Le Huynh Duc, who is keen to add more attacking options to a frontline that has relied heavily on Tien Linh and foreign players this season.

In addition to Dang Khoa, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC already have another overseas Vietnamese player in their squad, goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang. Born in 1992, Le Giang returned to Vietnam in 2023 to play for Hanoi Police FC before later joining Ho Chi Minh City FC (the predecessor of Ho Chi Minh City Police FC). He made a strong impression with a series of outstanding saves, helping the club finish in the top four during the 2023–2024 season. Of Vietnamese–Slovak descent, Le Giang was trained in Europe and is known for his solid technical foundation and modern football mindset.

At just 20 years old, Ngo Dang Khoa is among the youngest overseas Vietnamese players currently playing in the V.League 1, alongside names such as Tran Thanh Trung and Brandon Ly. Should he perform well, the Australian-Vietnamese midfielder could be considered for future call-ups to Vietnam’s U20 or U23 national teams.

After 11 matches, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC have collected 17 points and are currently placed fifth in the V.League 1 standings, as they aim to push higher in the second half of the 2025/26 season.
