Hanoi, 29 January 2026 – Vietnam has officially granted citizenship to European-trained goalkeeper. Patrik Le Giang, a strategic move expected to boost the technical quality and long-term competitiveness of Vietnamese football as the country targets major regional and continental objectives.
President of Vietnam has signed Decision No. 91/QD-CTN dated January 28, 2026, approving Vietnamese citizenship for footballer. Patrik Le Giang, whose full name is Le Giang Patrik. Born on September 8, 1992 in Slovakia, the goalkeeper currently plays for Ho Chi Minh City Police FC and has been one of the most consistent performers in domestic professional football in recent seasons. The decision marks a significant milestone not only in the player’s career but also in Vietnam’s broader strategy to strengthen its national football system through high-quality human resources.
The completion of the naturalization process for Patrik Le Giang is part of a clear orientation toward improving professional standards and preparing for important upcoming goals of Vietnamese football. The proposal was submitted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism after a comprehensive assessment of his expertise, international playing experience, and stable form over recent seasons.
